The Tour de France in Swaledale
In July 2014, the Tour de France route arrived in upper Swaledale from Wensleydale over the panoramic Buttertubs Pass (which Jeremy Clarkson dubs “England’s most spectacular road”), near Thwaite. From there, the cyclists rode down Swaledale, before branching off over the moors at Grinton towards Leyburn. So come and explore this fantastic cycling scenery and experience the Tour de France feeling!
