Wouldn’t you love your own personal space to relax in?

In your holiday cottage you can shut the door on the outside world. Relax in the privacy of your own home from home. Sit with a glass of wine in the garden and watch the (quiet!) bustle of Yorkshire Dales life.

Challenge and comfort?

Challenge yourself to a little walk, enjoy the stunning scenery, relax in a hot bath, explore the local pub, to meet locals and soak up the Dales atmosphere. Muker has the Farmer’s Arms, a lovely local inn, with good local ales (from Askrigg Brewery, including Muker Silver, named after Muker Silver Band, founded in 1897 and still going strong!), and good home-cooked food, such as roasts on a Sunday, and steak and ale pie, as well as lighter meals and sandwiches (and dog- and muddy boot-friendly).

Gunnerside has the King’s Head, also welcoming muddy boots and dogs, good pub grub and ales, and there is Ghyllfoot Tearoom, and Mary Shaw’s Cafe in the village as well.

The Punch Bowl, Low Row, and the CB Inn, in Arkengarthdale, are gastropubs, with good ales, and there are a number of pubs in Reeth, along with tearooms and small shops. There is Dales bike hire at Fremington, just below Reeth, if you want to cycle part of the 2014 Grand Depart Tour de France route, and you can reward yourself with delicious coffee and cakes at the Cakery there, or take a two minute walk to the Bridge Inn at Grinton.

We like the White Hart in Hawes; good variety of beer, extensive well-priced menu (serving lunches till 3pm and evening meals from 5pm), but there are a number of other pubs in Hawes, too.
