We are deeply missing all of our wonderful guests here at Cat Hole Cottages and can’t wait to once again share our fantastic surroundings with you here in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s with regret that we’ve had to rearrange all of our visits for the foreseeable future, and it’s not just stays with us that have had to be put on hold, but also our guests’ visits to their favourite restaurants, attractions and shops in the local area. But, to make sure you don’t have to miss out on your favourite Yorkshire hotspots, Welcome to Yorkshire have created a Yorkshire Days In campaign to keep you entertained from your own homes, until you can visit us here at Cat Hole Cottages again soon.
Yorkshire Days In
Welcome to Yorkshire have teamed up with a number of local attractions and are working with all your favourites to provide an online resource packed full of ideas and inspiration on what you can be doing at home whilst you can’t come to visit us here in Yorkshire. There are so many things to do, from Yorkshire inspired recipes, books set in Yorkshire for you to read, and even virtual tours of some of our hotspots!
One of the most popular days out for some of our guests here at Cat Hole Cottages is The Wensleydale Creamery up in Hawes. In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is home to the famous Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese! Luckily for you, they’ve recently hosted their ‘Digital Days Out’ event over the Easter holidays, which is still running on their website. You can enjoy the whole creamery experience without moving from your sofa. Their event includes a journey through the art of cheese-making in Wensleydale, as well as quizzes, recipes and crafts.
Another favourite has to be the Jorvik Viking Centre a little further afield down in York, who are offering a similar experience where you can learn all about the Vikings from home. Their website has got lots of content for both children and adults, including educational activities, fascinating information about the Vikings, and vintage video and audio from the original Coppergate excavation! Why not use lockdown to head back in time with the Jorvik Viking Centre?
For more activities to do from the comfort of your own homes, head to the Welcome to Yorkshire website, it’s packed full of fun and interesting things to do. Keep checking back too as they’re continually adding more things to do! But for now, until we can see you again, we hope you can continue to enjoy Yorkshire from afar and fingers crossed we will see you again soon.
