Overview

Joiner’s Cottage in Thwaite, upper Swaledale, is a high-quality haven from the cares of your workaday life.

Originally the joiner’s shop, the cottage is a spacious, lovely home with character touches such as a feature stone fireplace.

New windows and doors to the revamped south-facing terrace (now enclosed), multi-fuel stove and contemporary furnishings make the cottage welcoming and snug.

Fresh decor, a lovely kitchen with high-quality granite surfaces and luxury bath/shower rooms complete the feeling of a home from home.

Marvellous views from the living room and suntrap (enclosed) terrace look to the wonderful hills nearby. Sit and relax to the soothing murmur of Stockdale Beck after exploring one of the many walks from the door including the Coast to Coast and Pennine Way walks. As Wainwright said, “…the promised land of Swaledale, the foot of our personal rainbow, journey’s end.”

A lovely, well-equipped cottage in a beautiful setting. Lots of interesting walks both from the cottage and further afield. We highly recommend the Farmer’s Arms in Muker – great food and very welcoming staff.Cliff and Dan Fisk, and Lui, the dog, Great Wratting, Suffolk

Another nice cottage, one of scores we’ve stayed at in the beautiful dales. Wensleydale Show a treat as usual. The Graingers, Northumberland
Very enjoyable 10 days at Joiner’s Cottage. We were very lucky with the weather, which made the walks in the Dales very pleasant. Even our teenage sons enjoyed some long walks, although they stayed home when we did Great Shunner Fell! Lovely time, thank-you.Jane, Mark, George and Ben Harvey, Harlow
A lovely stay in silence, not interrupted by quiet cyclists. Thank-you. Lovely week, quiet recovery, friendship and best of all, Le Tour! The Dales has turned on a great show and turned out in force for the Tour de France.Jenny and Stephen, Surrey
