Overview

The Old Cobbler’s Shop (previously known as Brooklands) is a charming one bedroom cottage, newly refurbished and decorated to the highest standard, in the lovely Swaledale village of Gunnerside, where there are many walks direct from the door, including up Gunnerside Ghyll, past the lead mining ruins.

With electric heating throughout, and a log burner in the living room, the cottage is warm and cosy, even in the depths of a Yorkshire winter. The kitchen is very well-equipped, with washing machine, full size fridge and separate freezer, along with all the usual kitchenware.

The double bedroom has amazing views towards the hills opposite and is flooded with light through the two big windows. The shower room is downstairs, with electric shower, WC and basin and there is a convenient boot store with heater tucked in between the kitchen and shower room.

Outside is a little south-facing patio, with both a bench, and table and chairs, so guests can sit in the sun whatever time of day and admire hill scenery and the gorgeous view towards upper Swaledale. A car can be parked directly outside the cottage and one small dog is welcome (strictly not upstairs or on furniture, please). We don’t charge extra for your dog, but please mention when booking if you are bringing one.

Week bookings are Friday to Friday. Secure storage for cycles included, and an electric vehicle charging point is negotiable with owners.

The Old Cobbler’s Shop is a welcoming, attractive cottage, ideal for a walking/cycling holiday, or for just relaxing and exploring, with the King’s Head a stone’s throw away.
