Throstle Nest House is a detached luxury holiday cottage and is the perfect place to spend a well earned break from the hustle and bustle of life.

The cottage is beautifully appointed and fully equipped. It enjoys a very peaceful location nestling in the hillside above the River Swale and has superb views of Swaledale from wherever you look. Only a few miles drive from the picturesque villages of Reeth, Muker and Gunnerside.

This traditional-style, Dales farmhouse was completely renovated, to an architect’s design and the latest building standards, in 2013 and commands one of the most glorious views of Swaledale. Its living space is modern, spacious, warm and light, the house is stylishly furnished and it has been thoughtfully equipped to provide you with the comforts you’d expect from home.

Whether you want to take a different walk every day right from the door, go cycling up Dale and down, drive the heather-clad moorland roads or simply stay in and read a good book by the fire, bake a cake for afternoon tea or cook a delicious evening meal, Throstle Nest is truly a perfect and relaxing place to stay, both inside and out.

As soon as you arrive, you’ll feel a million miles away from it all. And yet the house is perfectly accessible by road. Should you be tempted to get back in your car, you’ve picture-postcard Dales villages, great tourist attractions, good shops and top restaurants just a short drive away.

Throstle Nest House offers easy access to unspoilt landscapes and provides walkers and cyclists with the perfect holiday escape. A perfect place to recharge your batteries!

Booking details

Week bookings run from Saturday to Saturday (reserve online or telephone 01748 886366). To see price and availability, click the “Book Now” button (you have not committed yourself to a booking by doing so).

Short breaks are available during winter months (see FAQs). Please contact us to confirm a short break booking, or for a price for a different number of nights.

You can pay by cheque, BACS or by card. A deposit of £90 is due on booking, including a £10 booking fee. Please note, deposit and booking fee are non-refundable in the event of cancellation.

You can send a cheque, payable to Cat Hole Cottages Ltd, to Cat Hole House, Thwaite, Richmond DL11 6DR, with the name of the cottage and holiday date on back of chq; pay by BACS, sort code 09-01-28, acc 37806627, ref TNH and holiday date; ring to pay by card.

Throstle Nest House is reached along a single track road, a couple of miles from Low Row, Gunnerside and Muker. In a rural setting, the cottage is nevertheless easily accessible from the road, with plenty of parking. Please see FAQs for information about car access in wintry weather.
