Overview

Overlooking the Swaledale, this outstanding cottage has been marvellously renovated with a feel for luxurious comfort and style.

Throstle Nest Barn is a detached barn conversion in a rural setting, yet easy to reach, and with amazing views across Swaledale.

A beautiful kitchen retains its old-fashioned charm with beamed ceiling and flagged stone floor. The upstairs living room has a cosy outlook over the private field, with lovely meadow flowers. Underfloor heating in the bathrooms and a multi-fuel stove in the living room (along with oil central heating) make Throstle Nest Barn an inviting and hugely comfortable retreat after a day’s walking over the nearby hills.

The rear door opens onto a patio with bench to admire the hillside outlook, a garden table and chairs overlook the stunning view downdale and a bench perched on the hillside from which the whole of Swaledale is spread out in front of you (or so it seems!).

With all modern conveniences, and a king sized sleigh bed to sink into, you’ll spend a fantastic first holiday in Swaledale here – and return year after year, your luxurious treat to yourself!

Outstanding barn conversion in a fantastic peaceful location. We found the barn very well-equipped and all first class fixtures and fittings. If you are lucky to have a clear sky in the evening, the view of the stars is spectacular!John and Jenny Bradley and Bruce, the German Shepherd, Hartlepool

Testimonials

What a stunning place.  As soon as we arrived and opened the back door into the kitchen we immediate felt completely at home.  It was so warm and beautifully decorated and furnished with everything we could possibly need.  We were very lucky with the weather too and I would have been quite happy to have spent the week sitting on the patio with my book and a cup of tea and not moving from there!  We had some lovely walks with our two dogs and they certainly enjoyed running up and down the garden (although I think the rabbits are quite safe!). Please also pass on our warm thanks to the owners of this very special property.  They have certainly thought of everything to make our holiday perfect.  I must admit, we didn’t see much TV as we spent most evenings watching the James Herriott DVDs so we will need to come back to finish the set. Once again many thanks for organising our stay and we look forward to our next visit.Beryl, George and Jane Haslam (with Bunty and Posy the two “four foots”), Lockerby
