Overview

Situated in the lee of a hill, Joe House is a warm, comfortable, lovely cottage with lots of charm.

There is a spacious dining kitchen, with dishwasher, fridge/freezer and induction hob, and the cosy living room has a leather sofa and multi-fuel stove, coal included, first basket of logs.

Upstairs, the cottage has two large bedrooms, sleeping up to 5 people, and a family bathroom (good views from the WC!).

The cottage is about a mile from Gunnerside, the last bit along a single track road. Note, the track to the cottage is a bit rough and ready, not really suitable for low-slung cars. The garden, sheltered by the hill, is the perfect place to relax after a day’s walking amid the outstanding Swaledale scenery!

Testimonials

Great stay for all of us at Joe House. Everything we could possibly need is provided. Good birthday break for my husband and son.Debbi and Martin Smith, Preston
A fabulous place to see in the New Year. Thanks for making it so homely and the thoughtful touches, from the welcome pack and foodies, to our Christmas tree! We love the dales, but don’t know Swaledale well, so this week has been a revelation. A hugely relaxing place in a gorgeous part of Britain.Hannah and David, Cambridge
What a lovely cottage! We’ve had great fun doing some of the suggested activities – even paddling at Wainwath Falls despite the weather. Love the bridge over the Swale at Reeth and a great place for throwing stones in the river.Charlotte, Richard, Andrew and Isabel Digby
Our two weeks here have gone too quickly, weather fantastic, allowing us to walk every day. Our ninth visit to Joe House, our favourite house so far, with everything you might need for both good and bad weather.Mary and John, Ireland
A lovely cottage in a good location. Weather good, so we got to do some cycling- the only regret was the rather steep climb up from the main road – first try was a case of get off and push!Susan and Jan
